This New Year’s Eve performance of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”, was a fitting tribute to the late David Bowie and the pulsating energy of 80s New York.

Cyrus and Byrne’s collaboration was a beautiful homage to the spirit of artistic innovation that both Bowie and Byrne embodied.

In an electric blue suit, Byrne joined the “Wrecking Ball” singer onstage for a powerhouse duet of the David Bowie classic “Let’s Dance,” accompanied by a full band and a well-placed saxophone. This 1983 hit single from Bowie’s fifteenth studio album not only topped the charts worldwide but also became an emblematic song of the 80s New York dance scene. With its infectious rhythm and catchy lyrics, “Let’s Dance” encapsulated the vibrant and glamorous spirit of the era.

“Because my love for you”/”I would break my heart in two,” they sang. “If you should fall into my arms”/” And tremble like a flower.”

One costume change for Cyrus later, the two were back— this time to sing Byrne’s own “Everybody’s Coming To My House.” The two shone on stage, even taking time to bust out synchronized sways.
